On the remote Hebridean Isle of Raasay in Scotland and in 2013 the British bassoonist Laurence Perkins will be running a solo bassoon course from 8th – 12th April.
The bassoon course will be organised alongside the solo bass clarinet course which has attracted quite a few course participants from The Netherlands in recent years.
In 2013, Raasay will be welcoming the very first bassoon course to be held on the island. It will be led by Laurence Perkins, and offers a very special opportunity to spend five days developing your bassoon playing with a leading international soloist with 40 years of solo, chamber and orchestral experience.
The bassoon course is suitable for bassoonists (aged 18 and over) at all levels, and where appropriate there will be separate sessions focusing on the specific needs of advanced and more elementary standard players. A wealth of musical and technical aspects will be explored – these will include breathing, tone production, tuning, reed adjustment and practice technique.
